Memory & Cognitive
Evaluation in Florida.
Evaluations for adults experiencing memory problems, confusion, or cognitive decline — distinguishing normal aging from conditions requiring medical attention.
Dr. Dagmar E. Nuñez, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in neuropsychology, serving adults across Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties in English and Spanish.
Who This Is For
Common reasons for an evaluation.
- Memory loss interfering with daily activities
- Difficulty managing finances or medications
- Getting lost in familiar places
- Confusion about time or dates
- Changes in language or word-finding
- Personality or mood changes
What It Identifies
Normal aging, or something more?
Testing distinguishes between normal aging and conditions such as mild cognitive impairment (MCI), Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, Lewy body dementia, frontotemporal dementia, depression that mimics memory loss, TBI/concussions, and medication effects on cognition.
Early assessment allows identification of treatable causes, access to medications that may slow progression, and planning for the future while the person can participate in decisions.
Questions
Your questions,
answered.
- Age-related memory decline
- Mild cognitive impairment (MCI)
- Alzheimer's disease and other dementias (vascular, Lewy body, frontotemporal)
- Cognitive changes following stroke or TIA (mini-stroke)
- Depression or anxiety affecting memory and thinking
- TBI / Concussions
- Medication effects on cognition
No referral is required, although many patients are referred by their primary care physician or neurologist. A copy of the report will be sent to your referring physician and any other providers you authorize.
- List of current medications (or bring the bottles)
- Recent medical records, if available (neurologist reports, brain scans, lab results)
- Eyeglasses and hearing aids, if you use them
- A family member or close friend who knows you well (for the initial interview)
Testing can be tiring, especially for older adults. We can take breaks as needed and split testing across multiple shorter sessions if necessary. The goal is to get an accurate picture of your abilities in a comfortable, supportive environment.
Schedule as soon as you or your family notice concerning changes. Early evaluation can identify treatable causes, detect mild impairment before it progresses, establish a baseline for monitoring, and provide peace of mind if testing shows normal aging.
